Seed cycling is a practice I recommend often in my acupuncture practice — a simple way to align daily food with the phases of the cycle. In the follicular phase (roughly days 1 through 14), flax and pumpkin seeds are the classic pair: flax lignans support healthy estrogen metabolism, and pumpkin seeds provide zinc for the follicle developing that cycle.

Brewed as a warm plant milk, it becomes a quiet daily ritual instead of one more supplement to remember.

Ingredients

Makes about 2 servings

  • Ground flax seeds1 tbsp
  • Raw pumpkin seeds1 tbsp
  • Rolled oats20 g
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • Water600 ml

How to brew

    Grind the flax fresh (or use pre-ground flax stored in the fridge).

    Add all ingredients to a plant-milk machine.

    Select the soy-milk program.

  4. 4

    Drink warm, once daily, from the first day of your period through day 14.

Not ideal for

  • Days 15–28 — switch to the luteal blend (sesame + sunflower) coming soon
  • Post-menopause — the framing is different; ask a practitioner

Tips

  • Grind flax weekly and store in the fridge — the oils turn rancid quickly.
  • Pair with a warm breakfast for the most calming effect.
